EarthSpirit Education Director

Position Description(1)

Responsibilities(2):

  1. Act as a liaison between EarthSpirit and the religious education (RE) program at St. John's;
  2. Regularly touch base with the RE directors;
  3. Organize childcare for the adult-oriented rituals;
  4. Organize teachers/classes for the RE program at St. John's;
  5. Act as a liaison between the St. John's youth group and EarthSpirit;
  6. Organize adult RE classes/speakers on Earth-based practices at St. John's.


Gifts required:

  1. Commitment to Earth-based religious education in all stages of life;
  2. Ability to work with children;
  3. Good people and organizational skills;
  4. Ability to facilitate classes.


Amount of time required:
Average of four hours per month

When Ministry is performed:

  1. Through all organized classes;
  2. Arranging a healthy environment for children during adult-oriented ritual;
  3. Assignments at own convenience;
  4. Once a month at the Executive Committee meetings.


Length of Commitment:
Two Years

Training provided:

  1. Executive Committee orientation;
  2. Training from previous Educational Director;
  3. Any further training may be sought and provided from fellow Committee members.


Responsible to:
EarthSpirit chair and all fellow Committee members

Support provided:

  1. Support and encouragement provided from other Committee members, the Chair, and fellow EarthSpirit members.
  2. Response to all requests for training and/or information you need to fulfill your position and make it rewarding and growth-filled.
  3. Welcome and respect for your suggestions and opinions.
  4. The personal and professional support of the minister and other lay religious education leaders from the congregation, including the Directors of Religious Education.
