Position Description(1)

Responsibilities(2):

  1. Prepare the agenda and facilitate business meetings;
  2. Oversee the scheduling of, and secure a place for, rituals and other events;
  3. Create an open dialogue with the EarthSpirit liaison on the St. John's Board;
  4. Present an annual report to the St. John’s board;
  5. Handle all administrative duties involved in maintaining membership as an official affiliated CUUPS chapter.


Gifts required:

  1. Personal commitment to strengthening the ties between Earth-based tradition and UU-ism;
  2. Strong group processing skills and the ability to lead active and productive meetings;
  3. Ability and willingness to delegate, work as a team member, and support committee members;
  4. Good organizational and planning skills;
  5. Commitment to broader member involvement;
  6. Ability to and rituals.

Amount of time required:
Average of six to nine hours per month

When Ministry is performed:

  1. Annual and monthly Committee meetings;
  2. Assignments at own convenience;
  3. Through coordinating community events and activities;
  4. Keeping in contact with all subcommittee members;
  5. Keeping in touch with the St. John’s Board.

Length of Commitment:
Two Years

Training provided:

  1. Executive Committee orientation;
  2. Training from previous Chairperson;
  3. Any further training may be sought and provided from fellow Committee members.

Responsible to:
EarthSpirit’s liaison to the St. John’s board, and to other members of your Committee

Support provided:

  1. Support and encouragement provided from other Committee members, the board and fellow EarthSpirit members.
  2. Response to all requests for training and/or information you need to fulfill your position and make it rewarding and growth-filled.
  3. Welcome and respect for your suggestions and opinions.
  4. The personal and professional support of the minister and other lay leaders from the congregation.
