Social Groups

St. John's has a variety of social groups for our members and friends to get to know each other in a relaxed setting:

30s & 40s provides opportunities for St. Johners in their 30s and 40s to connect through social activities such as a Super Bowl Party, Taste of Cincinnati, and art outings. Some activities include children as well.

Meeting Pattern: Four to eight activities per year, usually on weekends.

Final Friday Game Night is for anyone who likes playing board games and provides a relaxed atmosphere for getting to know one another. Mostly we get together for fun and a little competitive (and occasionally cooperative) spirit. Games of all sorts have made an appearance, from party games like “Apples to Apples” to Euro-style games like “Settlers of Catan” or “Ticket to Ride” to dominoes to children’s games. Everyone just brings their favorites and we break into groups according to who wants to play what. Just bring yourself; there are lots of game choices and there’s always someone willing to teach any games we play.

Meeting Time: We meet on the last Friday of each month in Krolfifer. We begin at 7 p.m. and often are playing til midnight or even later. It’s perfectly ok to drop in for whatever period of time you’d like—just pop in for one game or stay the whole 5 hours! Announcements of any changes to our schedule appear in “The Reporter.”

Interweave is where lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered Unitarian Universalists and their friends meet for support, socializing and sharing life issues.

Meeting Pattern: We meet every 2nd Sunday after church at a nearby restaurant at 1pm. There is also one other social activity scheduled every month.

Interweave provides a yahoo group where members can discuss Interweave-related issues and events. If you want to join this group, please send a request to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Typical Meeting Pattern: Once a month happy hours/dinners at a nice restaurant on the second Friday of each month.

Men's Group meets to 1) learn about living as a male in contemporary times; 2) promote our personal growth; 3) develop male friendships; and 4) bond our men to the church. NOTE: Spirituality and services to the church are not objectives of the group but are left to individual discretion. Open to all interested adult men; church membership is not required.

Meeting Pattern: During the school year, the group meets at 6 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month at the church. A meal, prepared by group members, is served (at cost). A talk and group discussion follows. Each fall we have an all day retreat at an off-site location. We meet on the second Sunday of July and August for potluck suppers and open discussions at member's homes.

Contact: Rick Prairie to receive the group's monthly email notice.

Young Adult Discussion and Action (YADA) is for people ages 18-35 (roughly). We meet to

  • actively promote the seven principles of Unitarian Universalism
  • discuss issues important to young adults
  • provide opportunities for questioning young adults of diverse backgrounds to form friendships through regular social activities

Meeting Pattern: We come together for discussion on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month at 7pm at the church in the Wells Room. We also meet for social activities such as movies, grill-outs, and board games from time to time.
