Social Groups

St. John's has a variety of social groups for our members and friends to get to know each other in a relaxed setting:

YAL Young Adult Lunch - YAL is a young adult group (eighteen to approximately thirty-five years of age) that meets after Sunday service at St. John’s every 2nd and 4th Sunday for lunch at a local restaurant in Clifton. Meeting young adults in a casual environment leads to friendships and conversation.

Final Friday Game Night - This group meets on the final Friday of each month in Krolfifer Hall at St. John’s to play board games of all types. The games begin at 7 p.m., but people are welcome to come any time and play one game or stay until the last game piece is put back into its box - usually around midnight. People of all ages and experiences participate. There are many games from which to choose - or - feel free to bring your own. Someone is always willing to teach games to newcomers.

Interweave - This is St. John’s social group for LGBTQ individuals (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer) and their straight allies. There is no current meeting time, but there is a movie/potluck evening on the third Friday of every other month. We participate in the local annual Pride events (parade and festival). All members and friends of St. John’s are welcome. Activities are organized via Interweave’s Yahoo group.

YADA (Young Adult Discussion and Action) is a community of young adults who are approximately eighteen to thirty-five years of age. Discussion meetings are on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7pm at St. John’s. In these meetings we discuss a specific topic in a free, roundtable format; recent topics have included "compassion", "mental health", and "super-hero movies". In addition to discussion meetings, the group often gathers for community service activities and social events.

Men's Group - St. John’s Men’s Group meets at 6:00 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month at the church for dinner and conversation. Two of our members prepare the food which usually costs approximately $5.00 per person. (This may vary depending upon the cost of the food and the number attending.) The discussion period focuses upon a previously announced topic and may or may not have a leader. In July, August and September the group usually meets on the second Sunday of the month. In November the annual all day retreat takes place on a Saturday with morning and afternoon programs.

Contact: Rick Prairie to receive the group's monthly email notice.

LAFs Lively after Fifty - LAFs meets in the evening on the second Friday of the month for conversation and friendship. We usually meet for dinner at a different restaurant each time. Newcomers are always welcome.
